ENERGY SYSTEMS GROUP is looking for a Salesforce Platform Lead to join our Sales team. The position is remote. Occasional travel may be required.
The Salesforce Platform Lead will be responsible for the day-to-day administration, support, enhancement, and overall health of ESG’s Salesforce Sales Cloud environment. This role will serve as the primary technical owner for Salesforce configuration, user support, issue resolution, data quality, and small-to-mid-sized platform enhancement projects.
This position is ideal for a hands-on Salesforce professional who can operate beyond traditional administrator responsibilities. The role requires someone who can understand business needs, recommend scalable solutions, configure the platform in alignment with Salesforce best practices, and help ensure the system remains clean, reliable, user-friendly, and aligned to business operations.
The Salesforce Platform Lead will partner closely with business stakeholders, IT, sales leadership, and external vendors or consultants as needed to support system improvements, manage user-generated requests, troubleshoot issues, and execute enhancements across objects, fields, page layouts, flows, reports, dashboards, integrations, and related platform functionality.
The essential functions of the position include:
Salesforce Administration & Platform Support
- Serve as the primary administrator and technical owner for the Salesforce platform.
- Manage user setup, roles, profiles, permission sets, security access, queues, public groups, and related administrative functions
- Respond to user-generated tickets, support requests, system questions, and reported issues
- Troubleshoot and resolve bugs, configuration issues, data issues, user access issues, automation errors, and system defects
- Maintain core Salesforce configuration, including objects, fields, page layouts, Lightning record pages, record types, validation rules, flows, reports, dashboards, and list views
- Monitor system performance, user adoption, data integrity, and overall platform health
- Support Salesforce releases, sandbox testing, change management, and deployment activities
- Maintain documentation of system configuration, business processes, data definitions, and support procedures
System Enhancements & Project Execution
- Lead and execute small-to-mid-sized Salesforce enhancement projects from intake through implementation
- Partner with stakeholders to understand business needs and translate them into practical Salesforce solutions
- Recommend scalable, maintainable, and best-practice-aligned solutions rather than simply fulfilling requests as submitted
- Configure and enhance Salesforce functionality using declarative tools, including Flow, dynamic forms, page layouts, validation rules, approval processes, reports, dashboards, and related platform features
- Support integrations between Salesforce and other business systems, including requirements gathering, testing, troubleshooting, and coordination with technical partners or vendors
- Evaluate the impact of requested changes on existing processes, data, reporting, user experience, integrations, and downstream systems
- Support user acceptance testing, deployment planning, training documentation, and post-launch support for system changes
- Identify opportunities to simplify processes, reduce technical debt, improve user experience, and increase Salesforce adoption
Data Quality & Governance
- Own and improve Salesforce data quality standards, including field usage, required data, duplicate management, naming conventions, data completeness, and reporting accuracy
- Partner with business leaders to define and maintain consistent data definitions, field governance, and reporting standards
- Monitor data quality trends and recommend corrective actions, automation, validation rules, dashboards, or process changes
- Support data imports, exports, updates, cleanup efforts, deduplication, and migration activities
- Ensure platform changes support accurate pipeline management, forecasting, reporting, and business decision-making
Business Partnership & Best Practices
- Serve as a trusted Salesforce advisor to business stakeholders
- Help business users understand what Salesforce can and should do, while guiding them away from overly complex, manual, or non-scalable solutions
- Balance business needs with platform sustainability, user experience, security, data quality, and long-term maintainability
- Stay current on Salesforce releases, features, best practices, and platform capabilities
- Work with internal IT, external consultants, vendors, and business teams to ensure Salesforce solutions are properly designed, tested, documented, and adopted
