ENERGY SYSTEMS GROUP® is looking for an Engineering Development Lead (EDL) to join our Federal team. The position will be remote. Travel 30% - 50% of the time is required, including overnight travel.
In energy performance contract projects, the Federal EDL serves as the technical leader of engineering development activities in Preliminary Assessment (PA) phase, the Investment Grade Audit (IGA) phase or any other engineering development activity that requires extensive resource and task planning, and other development management activities. The EDL needs to have a holistic and comprehensive understanding of various commercial building systems, such as lighting, building envelope, domestic water, HVAC, HVAC controls, as well as a thorough understanding of associated financial aspects, a general understanding of Uniform Facilities Criteria (UFC) codes, and the general rules of engagement as they apply to federal clients.
As the primary project manager and coordinator of various technical aspects of development, Account Executives, engineering management, and executive management count on the EDL to be responsible for understanding the technical needs and wants of a customer, and turning that information into accurate concrete solutions.
Engineering Development Lead may deal with technical issues that include but not limited to facility energy/utility consumption analysis and reduction strategies, general capital improvements, and even large-scale infrastructure projects. The Federal EDL is not only responsible for the technical strategies, but the costing of projects, forecasting energy reduction or change for a given solution, creating a plan to document an accurate and appropriate baseline and measure and verify the energy reductions forecasted, effectively presenting findings and solutions to customers and managers, and assisting the delivery team to ensure smooth installations and achieve exceptional results for the customer. The Federal EDL may also interface and coordinate with many other entities such as utility companies, site privatized partners, specific consultants for the type of improvement that is being considered and the operations and maintenance team for a long-term solution.
